I loved Nirvana for being so inovative and genius and are up there
but the greatest band ever had and has to be Led Zepplin.
Followed by Pink Floyd and then numerous favorites too many to
mention.

Abso-freakin-lutely.

Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Tool,....man, the early 90's were GREAT for music.

As far as the question. Though I LOVE Nirvana, and think they influenced music in a way that hasn't been done since the days of Elvis, it would be a hard sell to convince everyone they are the best of all time.

firstly, i would not evaluate the smashing pumpkins or the melvins as grunge bands. And why are you even stating the smashing pumpkins, i think of they seem to be somewhat too Poppy to be seen grunge. people basically think of that Nirvana is over rated by way of Kurt's dying. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, Nirvana fairly became into very everyday and explosive on the time. throughout the time of a time of dad and undesirable 80's hair steel, Nirvana became into the 1st grunge band to hit mainstream acceptance, and opened the possibility for different grunge bands to hit the air waves. so because it fairly is the reason they are categorised as between the terrific grunge bands ever. additionally, Nirvana became into unique and their song became into fairly emotional and beautiful.

well em I was only born in '89 but I love nirvana. please dont think-like so many others do-that just because I didnt grow up with nirvana that I cant be a 'serious fan'. I love their music and kurt cobain is always top of my list when I'm asked the 'what dead person would you most like to meet' question. I think he was incredibly talented and I wish I'd had the chance to go to one of their concerts...

I miss the 80's where Metal was being transformed. Nirvana is actually a really good band, RIP Kirk (it was Courtney Love) but I feel that grundge metal is still inferior to bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, and so on...... "Smells like Teen Spirit" is my favorite song by them! They can rock my socks off anytime....

NO.... not at all they were bland. Their guitar riffs were all the same their lyrics were ok but nothing spectacular. As for the early nineties rock music I'm going to say that they were ok but didn't rock. I like 60's and 70's rock. But I do agree that todays rock sucks.

I'm a huge Janes Addiction fan. You could hear their influence in Nirvana's music I think. I also like Nirvana - don't know that their short body of work is sufficient to have them crowned BEST EVER but I think in time they would have had a shot.
