you must find the lowest common denominator, that means what # will 2, 4 , and 8 all go into,,,, and the answer is 8, so then you take your bottem # and divide that into 8, then multipy that answer by the top # ,,, as in
1/2 2 goes into 8 , 4 times,,, then 4 times 1 =4 so your answer for doing that fraction is 4/8 do that with each one and you get
4/8 + 14/8 + 6/8 since now you have them all with the same denominator, you can add them
24/8 or 3
ps: if that 1 * was 1 times all the fractions, then you would multiply,,,,,your answer would still be 3
