when spain owned cuba

from what i read it was part of the cold war.
the US thought that cuba was going to give the USSR a base on their land and that ws just tooooo close for the US.
plus they took over all the US owned compaies in Cuba and that was a lot of money.
so money and nuclear threat and comunismis why the US got involved.
we failed in two areas, but Russia never got the base with nukes setup so that was a good thing.
