Why Wal*Mart is Evil
Wal*Mart, the biggest store franchise in America, with low-prices, a large workforce and more stores then you can possibly count. So why is it that whenever you leave the store you feel drained of all your energy. Is it the incredible amount of congestion in the aisles, or maybe was it the all the people walking around in NASCAR shirts, fuzzy slippers and sweat pants?
So you say well, I will just go somewhere else… but you can’t. Wal*Mart has taken over America; there are hardly any other stores. Not to mention, they match any price on any sales-ad that you have, so there are no cheaper prices anywhere, which means you are basically forced to shop there. You put it off for days because you dread it, but eventually you have to go. And upon walking into the store you pick the best cart you can possibly find, and walk by the toothless old greeter. Eventually you have to squeeze down a narrow aisle full of items, and if you are lucky a small child hits you...

their mothers shopping cart. When you finally get done, you head over to the checkout aisles and only 3 of the possible 18 are open. Which forces customers to go through Wal*Mart’s answer to the slow check out line, the Self-Check-Out line. The whole machine ends up messing up anyway, either repeating the same thing over and over, or freezing in general causing the clueless Self-Check-Out official to come and try to help. Upon leaving you have to attempt to pass the greeter at the exit and have to push your
cart through that mysterious puddle and over the bumpy tile; causing so much noise that it prohibits a clean get-away. Which then is the greeter’s opportunity to chase you down and prohibit you from leaving the store until you show your reciept. But that is only the consumer, they have a franchise that puts many smaller businesses out of commission and destroys many more jobs than it creates. Not to mention Wal*Mart makes over 9 billion dollars in sales annually and employees...

I frequent a Wal-mart in my town..and I don't see the conditions you speak of..you're just dramatizing for effect I think.

I have two friends that work there as cashiers..they both make over $9 an hour..not bad for unskilled labor. They get to request certain days off and if they do well at their job get the better, early shifts. Those that choose to just 'get along' at their jobs are the ones that work the horrible hours. Their healthcare doesn't cost them any more than it would if they worked at any other company..and I hear that it is really good care.

As far as I have seen it's the customers that attempt to use the self-check-aisle that are useless..they have the inability to follow simple instructions...such as..'put item in bagging area'...and 'alcohol cannot be purchased on this machine'. This causes an alert to the cashier..who then has to come over and fix the problem. The system is set up this way to avoid theft..which is a major problem on the self-checks. Funnily enough..I have never had any problem with them..and i have taken carts full of groceries through them when the other registers are full.

Wal-mart is a great store..it provides those at a low income level the ability to eat and buy products at a lower price..and therefore they aren't eating rice and beans every night as they would be if they were forced to shop at Winn-Dixie and Rouses. We do have a considerable amount of other stores here in my town that other people can go to if they wish.

Apparently you shop there..so what is it that you are hoping to accomplish with this speech? Personally I find it hypocritical that you would defame a store that you obviously frequent.

I rarely go to Wal-Mart but when I do I don't find the conditions you describe. Maybe this is only in the stores in Mooresville and Charlotte NC. I don't see anything incongruous about the way they do business or hire employees You either buy from them or not., You either work for them or not.

If they weren't offering lower prices, albeit the crowded isles then people would not continue to shop there and make them the largest retailer in the world.

In conclusion, as I make out my shopping list, is there anything I can pick up for you while I'm there?
