half eaten mince pie and nibbled carrot. The footprints in the flour will make a mess and may scare your little one.

Half eaten mince pie and carrot always worked for me as a kid. I did have fun with my Dad once, I insisted the reindeer were bored of carrots, everybody leaves out carrots and what they'd really like was a raw swede. I came down the next morning, and there it was, with a huge bite out of it...I still giggle over that

Haven't got a chimney at my mum's house where we'll all be staying (the kids have to write to santa to let him know where they'll be on Christmas day!!)

So it looks like being the half nibbled carrot, mince pie and whisky (all gone!!) again. I always get them to take their stockings upstairs and I fill them with little presents - chocolates, fruit, chocolate coins, teddies etc.

Ooh we had a Santa that would leave half a mince pie and lots of crumbs and a little brandy (he was a bit spoilt) and his reindeer would take the one meaty chunk out of the carrot, my mum made the bite marks out of a corer to make little teeth marks.

Does the tooth fairy leave notes in your house? On a little bit of pink paper (blue for boys) in tiny tiny handwriting to say "You need to stop sucking your thumb" and "What lovely teeth you have, keep on brushing every day and before bed!"

When my daughter was little, she would set out cookies and milk for Santa along side her letter to him with her gift requests. Next morning the letter was gone, and only an empty glass and some crumbs to be found. When I remarried a man with custody of all 5 of his kids, I was excited to do these things again until I learned their mom raised them to not believe in Santa, Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, etc. How sad!!!!

i put my partners shoes on a piece of card, cut around the shape of the shoe, then sprinkle talcum powder in the template, leading up to all my kids presents and then to the front door,i also leave a mince pie, a carrot and a glass of beer out, which obvuiously i drink before going to bed,but i always leave them half eaten, because i tell my kids santa is a busy man and hasnt got time to eat them.

My parents always fooled me by making sure the leave cookie crumbs and a little bet of milk in the glass that I would set out for santa, but if you're gonna do a carrot do a bunch of carrots so that Santa can feed all of his tired reindeer and just not Rudolf.

Those sound good, though the flour might be a bit messy. My brother's children once found a reindeer hoofprint in the middle of the fudge. Apparently it had been carefully made with a cut potato, but it sure fooled the kids! They decided that Rudolf was awfully clumsy.
