After watching the movies I realized that they sucked. 1 and 2 were good but they totally destroyed 3 and 4. Does anyone else think the same?

I think Alfonso Cuaron did a great job. Before him, Harry Potter was a cheese-fare, feel-good 'kids movie'. With the third-not anymore. With the 3rd, they grew up. They werent kids anymore. That's why the third movie is so different, cause like the book, everything changed. It was a turning point in the series. I do agree that the movie missed some key points, but unfortunately, that tends to happen whenever books are made into movies. All in all, i think Cuaron did a great job in paving the way for an older, darker and more mature Harry.

I think it is really difficult to match up to the books since they already set such a high standard. So far, the only film that actually topped the book it was adapted from is Forrest Gump. And maybe Jaws.

It was expected that the screenwriters to take the liberty to leave out some parts, if not, The Goblet of Fire would be easily 6 hours long.

But I was disappointed that they retained the action and left out all the soul. Character development was compromised. Satirical messages lost. And I think Harry Potter seemed to be more docile on screen than in book.

I hope all that teenage angst in The Order of The Phoenix (my fav) translates well onto film. After saying that, I guess everyone would still watch it when it comes out next summer, regardless of mangled plot. Why? So we'll all have material to b*tch about, of course.

It was insane. One and two were great, but the third one? Man, they destroyed it! They didn't put ANY Quidditch in it, which was a big part in the book, not to mention Oliver Wood's last year. And they left out facts about Harry's dad, completely ruined Sirius and Lupin (the casting was terrible), and they left out Pigwidgeon! I don't know if I spelled that correctly, but Ron's new owl? They completely ignored him! The third book was my favorite, and I know the movies are meant to be blockbusters and can't be that long, but the things they left out would've tacked on about 10 to 15 extra minutes. The fourth one was pretty good, and I think the people who hadn't read the books beforehand got what they should've out of it.

Yes, they butchered the movies. With the recent success of the Lord of the Rings they should have went for the epic style and format. They had great actors and a great book to work from. Like Lucas before they decided what they thought an audience would go for and we suffer for it.

If you want to know they have butchered every Comic hero movie ever made, but still it is better than nothing...I guess.

1 and 2 were good movies. 3 was my favourite novel, but least favourite movie, they left so much of the carry through story out (didn't even mention that Harry's dad was an anamilgus). I didn't think they did too badly with 4, it was a really long book, something had to be left out.

You have to keep in mind, a movie based on (long) books *Have* to condense it the best they can. It's next to impossible to reproduce it word for word without it being a 4+ hour movie. Look at Lord of the Rings. Same thing.

The books keep getting longer, and they apparently want to keep them packaged up into 1 movie each. I remember talk before the 4th movie, that they might make it into 2. It may have been better that way, but as it stands ... they had to chop it to make it fit into 1 movie.

Well, I thought the 1st was awesome and also my favorite, but the 2nd one left out ALOT of things. I havent seen the 3rd one but I thought the 4th one was good although they did leave out alot too but I mean, what can they do, they can't put everything inside.
