What do you mean 'out of style'?
The psp is everything. It eats ipods for breakfast, it plays games, listen to music and movies.
What more do you want?

It depends if you like the games on the PSP? Compare how much enjoyment you will get out of it with how much you'll get out of whatever else you may want. Personally I would choose the DS, but it's not as good at some tasks, so think about what you'll be using a PSP for: music, films, games, internet, hacking/modding etcetera.
Have other people you know got PSPs? Multiplayer gaming on handhelds is another thing to take into consideration.
Will you be able to get many games for it? If you ask for a PSP (I believe they are still more expensive than a DS?) you might end up only having one or two games that you'll grow bored with, however if you choose another handheld - which cost less - you'll possibly be able to get more games/accessories.
Finally: I recently dug up my old GameBoy Advance, you may find you'll get more enjoyment from a GB/GBA, simply because a lot of the games are sometimes priced over 3 times as less, thus allowing you to buy a bigger library quickly.

GET a DS!!! If u want to watch movies and listen to music in your DS u can if u hack it. Plus it has more overall screen area and a touch screen. It also is more popular. its just better. u should get a DS! dnt get a psp.

You shouldn't care what people say about it. If it's what you really want, why do they care? Ask for what you really want! PSP is very cool, it's the best current handheld.

PSP is cool and all but go big or go home so go with like a xbox 360 or ps3. and if you can't afford it then go get a job and buy it yourself

dont get it i got one it is mostly best for music or movies: if u want a mario type sistem get a ds light
