I have a friend of mine named Jasmine, and she tells me all the gossip and everything that is going around school. Well, she told me that my one of my best friends Rena got asked out last week by a guy named Isaac, the problem is that Rena hasn't told me anything about it. And yesterday Rena said yes to the asking out, so now Rena and Issac are going out. Jasmine told me that Rena told her that she doesn't want me to know...but I don't know why she doesn't want me to know because I thought we told eachother everything, we're also neighbors, and I'm thinking that Rena doesn't want me to know because she's afraid that I'm gonna tell her parents, but then what's the whole thing about being best friends if you can't even trust eachother? I'm in a really confused situation and I don't know what to do, like should I confront her, should I not talk to her anymore, what should I do?

Go up to her and say...Rena you know you can talk to me about anything right?
Then ask her if there is anything she wants to talk about
If she says yes I wanna tell you that im going out with Isaac then good for you.
If she say no there isn't anything I want to tell you.
Then tell her you're there for her......Don't get upset.
Just respect her and the more you respect her she will respect you too. And if she respects you she will tell you. Just give it some time.

Just because you are best friends does not mean that you have to be each other's ONLY friends. Since this Jasmine girl seems gossipy, it could be that Rena told her only because she meant to get closer to Jasmine. There's nothing wrong with this but apparently she made a bad decision in trusting her. The only way you'll really know why she didn't want you to know about the guy is to ask her. Don't be mean about it--just ask if she's aware that you already know. Maybe she wasn't sure how the relationship was going to go or something else made her unsure if she should tell you. At any rate, one little mess up is NEVER a reason to end a friendship, especially a friendship with a BEST FRIEND.

I'd think twice about trusting Jasmine. I'll bet she wants you to stay away from Rena. I'd confront Rena, and see what she says. Good luck! And when you choose a best answer, tell us what happened with the choice you made. I'm really interested. :D

I would talk to her and let her know she can confide in you. Maybe Jasmine is a manipulator and trying to come between two best friends. Also, could it be that Rena thinks you like Isaac and doesn't want you to get hurt?

Simply ask her if she is going out with the guy and see how she acts. Don't forget that girls can be catty and maybe Jasmine wants you to not be friends with Rena. The best thing to do is ask and let her know that her secrets are safe with you.

Over the course of our lives, my best friend and I have been though that many a time. She had told me many years later that she may have been afraid to tell me because she thought I might not approve of this new man. She may eventually tell you.
My best friend and I have been together since elementary school and as we push into our 30's, I realize that we've shared so many memories together. Bad hair, bad teeth. Braces, and first loves. Moving out and finding the men of our dreams. Death and new beginnings. Imagine that we both miscarried at almost the same time but I never told her until much later because I wanted to be there for her. We always tried to remind each other that we cared for one another. Sometimes, I wouldn't let on that I knew. She would always end up telling me. I may not have been the first to know, but I always knew all the details.

Ask Rena whats up. Tell her what you wrote in your question. If shes your friend shell explain why she was scared to tell you. But dont jump to conclusions without talking to her. Just be calm, avoid drama, and take it from me - life gets better after middle/high school.

you should talk to rena in person. just tell her something like, "hey, I hear you've got a date, so why was I the last to know?" don't be mad at her because you really don't know why she didn't tell you. just tell that you know, and now she can tell you all the juicy details that girls share with their best friends!
Good Luck with Everything

Don't confront ... ask nicely. "I heard you & Isaac were going out?".

She may need to re-affirm your friendship. Let her know you've got her back. Sometimes people do things we may not understand for silly reasons. Sometimes friends do stupid things. Be a friend and give your friend a chance to explain things.

Pull yourself out of all that elementary/middle/high school drama crap. It just makes everyone look stupid in the end. If you have a problem, deal with it. Or get over it.
