If you are point tender on the iliac crest, or top of your hip bone, you may have what is referred to as a hip pointer. It is a bone bruise to put it simply. It can vary greatly in severity from a simple annoyance to a very dibilitating condition. May take a little while to go away depending on how bad it is.

If you recently suffered an impact of measurable force to the area your speaking of it should have bruised (busted capillaries).
If you did not suffer a recent impact to the area in question, your bone could be degrading d/t improper calcium or phosherous intake. Your bones are a backup storehouse for the calcium needed for all muscle contraction and your brain. The parathyroid gland regulates the calcium in your blood keeping it between 8.5 and 10.2. Your brain function demands this level. If it's low calcium is removed from your bones . Unless your diet intake replaces the calcium taken from your bones when needed, your bones will degrade. The more your bones loose integrity the smaller the force necessary to compromise them. They could be compromised to weaker than your capillaries which would explain a pain to the bone without the bruise (broken capillaries).Just one possibility.

Your questions are for another doctor's opinion, not for this forum. You could go to a second doctor for a second opinion, but I think you should go to the emergency room now because the symptoms you describe are beyond a simple infection. Get going!
