Lord of the Rings. Lonesome Dove(great book - read it). Empire Falls (I haven't actually read the book, but I've seen the movie and heard that it's an excellent portrayal of the book). Most other attempts fail to meet my expectations. They either leave out some important or interesting part of the story or are just badly directed or badly written. If someone's going to make a movie out of a good book (instead of coming up with an original idea), they better DO IT WELL, or else it ruins the book. Anyway, done ranting now......good luck in your quest for a "good novel that has been made into a movie"!

The Da vinci Code, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Jurassic Park 1 and 2, Harry Potter, To Kill a Mockingbird, Death of a Salesmen, Lets just say almost every single really good or popular novel, even some unpopular novels have been made into some really good movies and some really horrible movies.

My favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite novel has been turned into a movie that will be out this Christmas. It's called Perfume, and it's about this serial killer in France around the time of the Revolution.

Please note that, without having seen the movie, I can't really vouch for it, but if it's even half as good as the book it will be a darkly entertaining little film.

Most of the books that they make into movies are much better in print form, the movies almost always disapoint me. The Green Mile, Fight Club, Memoirs of a Geisha were some of the ones that didn't disapoint.
