External conflict: when a character has a conflict (problem, fight, issue) with an outside source, such as another character, nature, society, etc.

Rising Action: the events that occur on the way to the climax, which is the most exciting part of the story.

Falling Action: the events that occur after the climax

Resolution: how the story finishes. How the author makes the story feel completed for the reader.

Theme: some insight you can learn from reading the story. What lesson from reading it can you use in your own life.
