I like it but that dam "Walker, Texas Ranger" I think puts a damper on things. I don't want him to have some name where he'll never hear the end of it.

Does it sound pretentious or foppish because I don't want that either. A good, strong man's name - that's what I 'm shooting for.

By the way - suggestions are appreciated.

We are divided on this apparently. I hadn't though about George W. Thanks for that. I'll put another check in the "no" column.

Walker for a Boy is ok. not sure why you want a manly name, lots of gay guys named james and robert also. Your name is not your identity, your identity is developed by your parents and yourself. Typically a manly name is simple and direct,
Nick - He's the kind of guy that'll let you puke in the car.
Dirk - A sharp blade.
Dick -

See all one syllable and can be said rather gruffly. Choosing a name which is not common also has its benefits allowing them to stand out. In the end choose the one you are most comfortable with and forget about most other peoples suggestions, its your son.

I think walker is a great name. Plus you need to think of the fact that Walker,Texas Ranger is long over now, so by the time he's old enough to be made fun of, it won't even be a show his generation knows about.

I had to laugh when i seen the comment you added on George W making ya say no! i was thinking that when i read the name, although i actually find it kind of cute as a name. Just don't think i would use it, maybe as a middle name?
Suggestions, i dont know if you will like any of them, but they are my personal favorites....sadly i will not be using them because hubby said no! They are:
Landon
Jackson
Ryland
Gage
Good luck!!

Walker is definitely not the way to go if you are looking for a strong manly name.
How about Kevin, James, Alex. They're simple but a man's name

I wouldn't go with Walker, i believe the name you give your child helps define who they'll become.

I like the name Austin
