An Inconvienent Truth.

Nothing scarier than something that is completely true and involves you personally.

When I was a kid it was defiantly Halloween. Now days I'm more selective, though. I enjoy a real suspense filled movie with somewhat believable characters. I liked the one comment about Silence of the Lambs. Hannibal Lecter was the scariest bad guy ever. One movie that surprised me though was White Noise. Very creepy. The silent Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney was great and the unmasking scene is still spine-tingling.

As cheesy as this probably sounds, Blair Witch Project. But just the first time. Psychological thrillers are MUCH scarier to me than the lameass hack'n'slash movies like Nightmare on Elm St, etc.

I think a big nod has to go to the Saw series for shocks and inventivenss, but personally I think Cube is one of the scariest films I've seen. It has a real sense of claustraphobia, and you never find out why the people who are in the Cube are there or why it exists.

Some more details on the film...

Tough question. I love Suspiria, The Audition, Vampyres, Mothman Prophecies, Stir of Echoes, and Cannibal Holocaust. Depends on what you find scary or how weak of a stomach you have. ;)
