Sorry if my question is wicked, but what i meant to ask is, when is it safe to have sex, and not get pregnant, a doctor explained it to me once and i totally forgot, i have been with my fiancee for almost 2 yrs now, and because i dont react well to birth control pills or patches or any other kind of contraceptive, i am wondering besides protecting it with a condom, when am i safe to have sex and when is it risky to have it? i hope all of you understand what i am trying to ask. Is it 14 days from the time you get your period or from the times it leaves, i am confused. I am sorry.

the safe time I would recommend is two weeks after your last period. If you are regular(28 day cycle) most doctors will say that you ovulate on day 14. Thus if you have sex 7 days after your period you hit that week of possible fertilization. Remember sperm can live anywhere from 3-5 days inside of you depending on conditions within your body(cervical mucous) which is present the week you are fertile. I have practiced the avoiding sex for 2 weeks after my period for 3 years with my husband and everything has worked out fine for us. But also you can ovulate earlier or later. So unless you really know your body you should continue to use condoms.

The correct answer is:
The first day of your cycle is the first day of your cycle. So, if you count the first day of your cyle to the fourteenth day, that is when a women usually ovulate. That is your most fertile day.
Example: You start your period on Dec 14, Dec 28 should be your ovulation day, Fertile day.
I would suggest to obstain from sexual relations that week. If you want to be extra safe.
You can buy condoms and over the counter female contraception jellies, foams and condoms.
I hope this answers your question.

There is no safe time really. But if there was a 'safe time' then I'd say during your period. I know it sounds a little gross but its not that big of a deal (it's actually the same except its more lubricated and your more sensitive). And sex at around 14 days is actually the most fertile time I believe.

If your period is regular, the 'safe times' are 4 days after you've stopped bleeding, to 10 days before you are to begin. It varies with each woman, but this gives you the best idea.

right after your period is the safest time, but there really is no safe time. especially if you're trying not to get pregnant. look up ovulation calculators on the internet. if your cycle is regular, they will tell you when it's safest.
