For the past hundred years or so. So much so, it has to be called into question if this is really America and does it have the authority to say the things it says.

No . Why would you ask such a question ? America continues to accept more people from foreign lands than most .. if not all other countries . I'm not exactly sure of the statistical numbers but I'm sure we are amongst the top importers of immigrants . You must keep in mind that the world is a much different place than when those words were penned . Our population has gotten so much larger and then the illegal immigrants add to those totals in unknown amounts . Oh , let us not forget about terrorists . We've got to be a bit more careful these days .

"Give me your tired, your poor,
No more!

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
Some!

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
No more!

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
No more!

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" — The Statue of Liberty
Still there.

is free really free any more? America offers great freedoms and economic opputunities but to those who do it the legal way. My tax money shouldn't pay for those who don't choose to become legal. Our policies have changed to benefit the public to where people can't just breeze through immigration. But illegal immigration out of Mexico is an issue that should be resolved.

Yes, we can no longer take care of the entire world. I was forced out of California because of the tidal wave of illegal aliens that made it impossible to live there. I have lived my whole life never getting anything from the govt. Now the govt. wants me to take care of and pay for illegals food, schooling, medicine and housing. No thank you.
