i was going to buy a new dell laptop from a guy online and then i noticed that he downgraded the processor when he ordered the laptop from an AMD turion 64 mobile mk-36 to a mobile AMD sempron 3500+. now i am having second thoughts. am i just overreacting? will this be a significantly lower quality machine than it would have been with the turion? i will not be playing games on it. just internet videos and dvd stuff. his selling price is $699. help asap!

i guess my real question is, will the sempron processor be sufficient to watch dvds and do basic internet stuff like watch videos on you tube and look at websites or will i be happier with the 64. i dont plan on ever playing games on the machine. i just want something to travel with that i can use for entertainment

Yes, you will see a performance decrease, going from a Turion to a Sempron. In my opinion, it's not worth the money.

The Sempron is a budget processor. Do yourself a favor and get the same laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, rather than a Sempron or Turion.

hold out for a 64. if you're going to shell out the cash you might as well get something that won't be obsolete in a year. the latest greatest Microsoft windows vista is a very taxing program on your hardware. i have a beta version running on a P-4 2.4 gig with 512megs of ram and it is slow and hangs. save yourself some headaches and get a 64 bit processor.

Are you going to run a 64bit O.S.? Are you going to run 64bit applications?

Based up on the specs you gave I cannot tell you whether its a good price or not. You need to add a lot more info.
