I read in "The Economist" magazine that in Britain, there are more children born to black/white couples than to black/black couples. That seems to indicate that, at least on a personal level, the UK has better relations between blacks and whites than the US. I know the UK has racial problems, but why the big difference? Any thoughts?

Social acceptance is an easier concept in the UK. The US has too many conservative views on society, and they get all intertwined when it comes down to race. The UK is also more accepting of other social concepts that the US still has a hard time accepting, homosexuality is one of those.

Because West Indians and Africans in the UK come in as immigrants or are 2nd/3rd generation, and the social experience associated with that is totally different from the slavery/segregational experience that the US had.

Blacks do not live in ghettos in the UK, they mix with the whites, it is a shame other minorities don't follow their example!

The majority of the"blacks" in the U.S. are the problem with race relations. They expect something for nothing because their ancestors were slaves.
