Shouldn't it be 'good wishes' instead? So often I see people write 'I send you my well wishes' and that looks so odd to me.

You are right, it is good wishes instead of well wishes. What needs to be done in this phrase is that you need to describe wish, and not send. Good is an adjective. Well is an adverb. I send you my good wishes. Good describes wishes. I send you my well wishes. Well is an adverb, but doesn't describe send, and it cannot describe wishes.

Good wishes!

You wear what is comfortable, however, I guess you will get some snide remarks about you adopting this Asian Garb. If it bothers you you could always make clothes in the same fahion but use a different type of fabric. Or else you could just say sod you I will wear what I'm most comfortable in.

I agree, well wishes. You could also use Best Wishes, but thats mainly used to wish people luck, like in getting married or having a baby.

ETA: Are you signing a letter by any chance? If so you should write Best Regards.

The salwar is a very flattering attire and if that is something you are comfortable in, then you should go ahead and wear it. After all it is your comfort and no one should have a say in it. Plus, you said that people have been complimenting you on the look...then all I can say is Power to you!...Wishing you good health! Ps: You can get salwars in various styles and fabrics, plus you can get it stiched at any Indian tailor for a very reasonable price!

"Well wishes" is never correct. The correct response is "best wishes" or "good wishes" from well-wishers. This is not open to debate. It's basic English grammar.

Of course it is not! Yet, every day I hear it or see it ALL THE TIME. It is maddening. If I am not mistaken, our president even said well wishes. Guess he missed his required English classes?
