Just thinking off the top of my head (which can be dangerous, by the way!)
How about the "Clapper?" My mom gave my husband one a few years ago- it really works. We have it hooked up to the Christmas tree. It goes on an off with clapping, stomping and coughing, too!
Also- Chia pets. They should be acceptable and they are kind of cute and functional.
Socks with toes!
I have also seen in the candy section of the drug store- a bag of coal (this is candy made to look like coal).
