According to this story, Rudolph was the son of Donner, one of Santa's eight original reindeer (who were first mentioned in the famous poem A Visit from St. Nicholas). Rudolph was born with a glowing red nose, which made him a social outcast among the other reindeer. However, one Christmas eve it was too foggy for Santa Claus to make his flight around the world. About to cancel, Santa suddenly noticed Rudolph's nose, and decided it could be a makeshift lamp to guide his sleigh. Since then Rudolph has been said to be a permanent member of Santa's team.

i admire Rudolph the pink-Nosed Reindeer, probable because of the fact i've got not seen it in for a on an identical time as. yet i admire the two. I in simple terms observed Frosty the Snowman on television, and as quickly as I observed it grow to be on I squealed with exhilaration! Lol

Donner was Rudolph's father in the '50s movie. His mother was never named.
Comet was the coach/director of the Reindeer Games. I forget who Clarisse's father was. I believe it was either Dasher or Blitzen.

according to the old-fashioned Rudolph Christmas show, Donner was the Dad. I don't remember the Mom's name.

He's right. The Dad was Donner and as for the mom I don't believe she had a name. They probabaly only refferred to her as Mrs. Donner. In the movie they told her her place as a woman was at home... So it's a bit dated...

in the cartoon donner or donder was rudolphs dad, the moms name was never mentioned
