No, it just requires enough evaporated water in the air and the sun shinning on it at just the right angle to cause a prism. There are more colors in the rainbow than can be seen by the human eye.

No, you can also see them in the day if you pass by a sprinkler and look in the surface of the water coming out of it and you will see a rainbow.

no they also show up before during and after a snow storm, and any time you`re in an airplane that makes rapid altitude changes and you look away from bright lights, sometimes theres a double or triple rainbow.

they appear when light refracts through water drroplets in the air, so yes. but maybe theyre just shy
