Can't Bill Gates just buy Mexico?

The next version of Windows would be called "Ventanas".

Think of the possibilites.

No more illegal immigration, affordable housing for all, lots more beach property, more oil (yes, Mexico has oil), job creation (we'd have to improve their infrastructure)....

Not merge, but become more United States. They already have the states and the basic infrastructure that the US does, they just have unethical people in the positions of power, including their federales and city police.
These people are gravely misunderstood and it's a shame that more people from "civilized" countries cannot see that. Their government screws them over, repeatedly, they pay taxes as does the US only there are basically no usable deductions, their police hardly ever issue tickets, they just make you pay them whatever you have in your wallet, and now that the Americans have boughten most of the beachfront property, they can't even afford to live in their own country. To buy a house on the beach anywhere in the Baja California Sur costs more than $250,000 american dollars, to the people of Mexico- thats $2,800,000 pesos and since they mostly get paid about $1,500 pesos a week, they live from day-to-day according to US standards, in poverty.
I think we have done enough damage to their countrys economy and we could possibly save BOTH of our countries by annexing Mexico. The US just bought their biggest island in the Sea of Cortex and is beginning to build a vacation resort there. The US will reap all of the benefits from this island and the Mexican people will only get to work there - cheaply paid at that!

HELL NO!!!!!! I think that MEXICO should stay just like it is. All that Mexicans want to do is to have a better life. They work more than 40 hours a week just so their families can have what they need. Many people want them out of the US but i know for a fact that they are NOT going to be doing the jobs that Mexicans are doing. After all half of the US once belonged to MEXICO so one way or another we have the right to be here, because we dont sacrifice ourselfs crossing the border to come here and be lazy WE COME TO WORK AND GET THE EDUCATION THAT WE CANT GET IN OUR COUNTRY!!

VIVA MEXICO!!!!!!!!!! PROUD TO BE MEXICAN 4 LIFE!!!!

Nope. I believe that America should allow illegal immigrants to gain citizenship after granting them temporary legal status. Of course, identification and a criminal record check should be required. Anyone who is involved in serious illegal activity should be reported. The nexus of it to make it work is to offer free English classes and even require some people to take English class, let's say people under 40 mostly.

I would rather see the U.S. and Canada cancel NAFTA which is a mess and a symptom of globalization. Corporations have more rights than our own governments. There are so many problems for Canada with logging regulations and subsidies, meat-packing, cattle-ranching, furniture distribution and water, it is not worth keeping. I would scrap it. The point I am getting to is that we should help them in their own country. There are specific reason why Mexicans come up here, and some of them are legitimate refugees. Look at the Zapatista rebellion and the guerilla war in Chiapas, the high levels of unemployment and poverty, the pollution in Mexico City and issues with the drug trade and human rights. It is understandable they flee to America.

Merge? The USA should just buy Mexico and add them into the States. Sure it means more stars on the flag, but hey, they won't have to jump the border anymore.

The plan being pushed by the administrations currently in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is for an economic unification. Like everything else Bush has pushed, it is absolutely bad news for the people of the country. Just lines the pockets of a few.

Yes then people won't keep moaning about illegals and Y! Q&A would be going on to more productive topics.
Mexicans are human beings just like anyone. A political border line doesn't change that fact.
Is a working mexican in the USA worth more than an american citizen on welfare?
You want to police the world but hate your very own neighbor.
Stop being the spoiled rich brat and grow up like the most of the other developed world is doing so.

NO.

But what makes you think that Mexicans even want to merge with the USA? Americans only have a distorted view of mexicans who come to the USA... most of these are poor and undocumented.
