They lost their colonies and many territories as a result of this treaty. The resentment they experienced over the terms of the Treaty of Versailles is credited as one of the major motivations for their instigation of WW II.

colonies i don't think is the right word,maybe arms and armiment and appropriations for war manufacturing was control to how many war designed pieces of each tank were scaled down to a few all ships were to be under a certain tonage to be in their navy and how many they could have and all were understated and over the limits by the out break of WW~I I none of the listed violations came to light before the germans attached poland and more out into the north atlantics with the pak hound of submarines that totally destroyed the world sea going ocean commerce, the dark days of the mariana shoot out and the midway with bull hulsey was the turning point of a oversight of violantions that was the treaties undoing, much of europe was still of colonial english rule when aryan attempts were designed to improve the species, much of germany and other countries had and still don't understand nutrition, domistic violence, birth and interlectuall disorders in swepts under the rug each countries unaffordable responsiabilies to make medical and social safety nets for their sociaties industrial & commercial rape of the working class, was getting all new money and that has been the same since there was none avaliable at the end of world war I and sigmond freud was humbly half way through analiyzing what would take another thirty years to mass acceptance and some institutional changes, and that was only in small pockets of informed,still the world waits for better plans it than entrapment of the work force til it drops and then open the borders cause they have no intentions of financing the disabilities that destruction of social american intenity or values comes with stupid unrealistic leaders, there cadafys and hitlers and aid spreaders, empty stomachs and lies is all that hitler needed to have turn the future from everyone and is still overshadowing behavioral controls today, the german childrens camp records are still the menu of hard line mean regulators today just as in the cheapest path for a few to exploit the opportunties that were only bait & switch

An addendum to the other answers: It wouldn't quite have qualified as a world war without eastern powers' involvement, and Japan entered early, on the same side as the Russians against whom they'd recently fought a war, probably so they could gain some of the German colonies in the Pacific, which they got.
