is it normal for basketball players to sometimes not play well? i play basketball every day except weekends and a month ago i could sink my open shots and rebound pretty well and play well generally. but now i dont feel like im improving, my shots are never going in anymore and i airball a lot, is that normal? what could be causing the inconsistency?

Even professional basketball players has up and down game, it's a natural cycle, as long as you put a good efford into it, you're doing OK, soon or later you will come out of your slump and play like MJ

Yes it is. I played basketball very well before, but since I'm more into soccer now I'm not such a good basketball player anymore. But that isn't the point.Maybe you are in the middle of growing and when you move you aren't sinking the shots because your body is growing as you move.

This has happen to me and there isnt an explaination for it. I used to make every shot, seriously. I could shoot 3's, lay-ups, foul shots, jump shots, you name it I can make it. Then when school league came I missed every shot. I think most of it is you cant think about it to much or worry because you will just set yourself up to have another horrible shooting day.

It's big time normal man. You just have to start practicing again. And sometimes your body just needs a rest. If you play too much, or too little, this could happen. But don't worry bout it, you won't lose your skills all of a sudden.

I would say you don't have any confidence in making your shots because you shouldn't lose "skill" in such a short period of time.
Are you playing on different courts? I have found that the court setup has affected the consistency of my shots (ex. my wife plays on a court with a double-rim that forces the ball to bounce a lot unless I swish it through.)

With me a fellow basketball player I would just shoot around until I found a sweet spot or shoot in a certain style and always make it but also you need to take a brake bc that has happened to me before :)

Analyze ! that's the keyword. but before you can analyze, you have to have a guide. for me, my guide is a text book of playing bball (i forgot by who). after you have the guide, then every time you did something wrong, you analyze what you did wrong.
it is perfectly normal for someone to have an off day. but you have to be able to get back to your normal-state.
of course you wont be able to analyze much if you are in the middle of the game. my tips for being in the middle of the game is, focus on how to do a proper technique rather than focusing on why do i have an off day. even nba players sometimes have an off night..

relies upon on what place you elect to play and at what point. 5'11 is small for the NBA, yet a lot of school guards are that top. i could complication greater approximately expertise than the actual.
