i need to plug into my router so i can share my printer

It will be easier to hook your printer to a computer near your router. Then select share.

(Otherwise you will need a print server plugged into your router.)

If you want a laptop to share the printer hooked to your other computer--select add printer and have your laptop look for it!

You can get a little print server for like 30 bucks these days. i recommend that. it's basically just an external ethernet card for you printer.

Two options, you can share it from the computer that is hosting it, or you can purchase a Print Server and attach directly to your router.
