Actually, anythiing under 59 is considered 'idiot'. Honest. The medical term would be 'idiopathic'.

Scores under 70 are usually associated with mental retardation. Very few tests are capable of testing under 50, actually, because under that a person is typically not capable of even the most simple mental tasks.

So you can think of someone under 40 as a vegetable. They would not be able to talk to you, or probably even acknowledge your existance. The average monkey is smarter than someone with an IQ that low.

It's pretty rare, probably about 1 in 100,000. You would expect to see brain damage in this person...or usually a very tiny, deformed brain.

Basically, anyone below 70 is entitled to assistance from the government. The highly politically correct people who want to take away regulated testing forget that without I.Q. tests, we couldn't establish programs for people with mental deficiencies.

A lot of people with dyslexia, fetal alcohol syndrome and ADHD are very smart and have problems of a different nature. They fall through the cracks, which is wrong. Functional illiteracy is a real problem, affecting thirteen percent of the population. Nowadays, you can't even get a driver's licence without being able to read. To help people who are at risk of getting shut out of society, you have to test them. If you find a weakness, say in my case math which I absolutely won't deny, you can get supplemental education, qualify for modified classes, and get tutoring from educational assistants.

If I had not had all that available to me, I would not have been able to survive a regular math class from Grade 8 to 10. I then should have taken modified math, simply because I ended up with intro Math 11 and took it three times. I took the regular three times and got credit for Math 11 Intro at the end. What is the point of denying that? I am actually very strong on literature, history, psychology, art, languages, and computer skills.

Someone with less than 40 is intellectually challenged. This obviously doesn't apply to you.You can spell, form sentences, and you seem intelligent.Someone with that low an IQ would be on a permanent disability pension for mental health issues, they wouldn't be able to work, and they would need assistance with their every day tasks like brushing their teeth, having a bath, etc.

You are 1 in 1000ish. To find the rarity of this score, simply find a rarity chart, look at the rarity of 140, and because they are 40 points away from the mean, they are of equivalent rarity.

Perhaps you are not breathing? The stats show that all of us are in one category or another. Perhaps less than 40 means you are only a vegetable?
