why get married? because society says you have to be married in order to be successful?

Yes, I will going on a second marriage by the end of the month after being divorced for 10 1/2 years. A little nervous but I'm almost positive I won't back out. I'm not doing it to be successful, want to finally make it known to family and friends that this is a serious relationship...5 years together, it's time.

I don't think marriage has anything to do with being successful. I got married because that's what I wanted to do. I have been for ten years to the same person. First marriage and hopefully only marriage.

I don't think you have to be married to be successful, I would actually have to say that is just a stupid reason to get married! But I also think if it's something two people want, then it's perfectly ok. I married my husband for no other reason then I loved him and wanted to make it "Official."

NOPE - I got married because I love my wife. That's all the reason I need. If anyone else has a different reason, they shouldn't be married anyway.

Without them you can't have a meaningful relationship that will last very long. My wife and I have been married almost 7 years now, and while that's not as long as most, it's longer than most people we know.

Because you want to spend your lifetime with the one you love and start a family with them. We're chosen as God's children to marry and procreate. People are still getting married. You don't have to be successful when you're married.

Well since I just got unmarried I got nuttin for ya but I will take a stab...cause when you find that person you want to spend your life with you take the chance and make it legal...funny how the rest of your life can be so short though...
