I have just bought an xbox 360 and have noticed that it is very loud when playing a game. Sounds like a VHS video recorder on rewind or someone hoovering in the next room. Is this normal? My old xbox made a noise but nothing like this. Any ideas?

They're well known for being somewhat loud, so don't worry about it. If you play a game off the hard disk (Xbox Live Arcade for example) you'll notice there's not much noise at all. Its all the disc drive spinning about the place.
Invest in a decent surround sound system, move the xbox further from your TV and drown the noise out!

You think thats bad, i was told it would be good to get a intercooler for mine and that sounds like i've got a fooking helicopter in my room all the time, i can't play it at night because it keeps my parents awake in the next room. But yeah it is normal for it to be loud, you get used to after a while (unless you buy an intercooler).

this is quieter than it replaced into even as they got here out. once you're taking section in a recreation you gained't listen it in any respect. If this is sitting quiet you gained't listen it both, this is totally quiet even as this is like this. So, this is somewhat quiet I wouuld say yet not the quietest gadget ever made. this is about as loud as a operating laptop or computer pc i am going to't listen mine even as i exploit it

I don't own one, but have read loads of reviews that complain about this.
They used to overheat, so have very large fans now - hence the noise.

Hoo... No, there is nothing wrong with your Xbox sounding like a dying pig. I don't understand why this is happening or why microsoft is doing nothing about this, but I know they are making good money with these silencers. you have to buy microsofts special silencer equipment, you can get it only from microsoft and xbox.com
costs 150$ though
