I guess the answer depends on what type of weather you like and what you'll be doing. Bahamas is probably in the 70s in January but it can be colder than that I believe. If you want nice relaxing weather it should be great. If you are looking for very warm weather to swim in a pool or beach in, it won't be that 85 degree weather.

Have fun I went to bahamas last May!

I'm from the Bahamas and in January it's not THAT hot out. It's warm and very windy. You have to keep in mind that the Bahamas are on the water which can bring quite a draft in. Like they said, it won't be hot enough to swim in the ocean, it'll just be comfortable. But if you wait too long to go, you'll start to get in to hurricaine season, so I guess now is as good a time as any.

Its a little windy and may be a little too cold to go in the beach/water. You can still go out in a t-shirt and jeans and do other things espically if you're at The Atlantis. Its also REALLY crowded.

Winter in the tropics is the 'high' season when practically everything costs tourists more-air fare, hotels, restaurants, etc.
