I always wonder this, b/c I have Seasonal Depression and winter is the HARDEST time for me!
This year I decorated my place early, I play the Christmas music *I* like (I'm a traditionalist myself), I wrapped all the presents, I made gifts for my neighbors (nothing fancy), I baked some cookies, and I burn a pine-scented candle since hubby won't let me buy a real tree. These things have helped me.
If you're a spiritual person, one thing that might help is reading the Bible, especially the 4 Gospels. What better way to get in the spirit than reading about why we celebrate this day to begin with? Another thing you can do that will help boost your spirits is to do some charity work. Donate a toy to Toys For Tots, find a local Angel Tree or Giving Tree, or volunteer at a local homeless shelter. It does help you feel better about what little you might have when you help those that have nothing.
And for some frivolous fun, watch your favorite Christmas movies, drink some hot cocoa or eggnog, and bake some cookies!

Go to your local mall or wherever your community has an angel tree and adopt an angel, without you a child might not have a christmas. Buying something for someone less futunate than you is a really good way to get into the christmas spirit.

I agree with J also. It feels so good to do something for someone else especially when you see the sincere appreciation from those that you give to. Even if you want to do it anonimously you will still feel good and most likely get into the holiday spirit.

Listen to some christmas music you enjoy or watch one of your favorite christmas movies or specials. I like to read a Christmas Story by Dickens every year. I also like to drive around and look at the lights on the houses. Then there's always baking christmas cookies!
