well i say you should have a variety. get a few different types of shirts and pants. OK so this is coming from a girl but i think that would be your best bet, and get one or two blazers that you could wear to a fancy dinner or to dress up an everyday outfit. i mean that's How I work my wardrobe i buy items i can wear to work and to hang with friends and then of course i have those three or four outfits that are for fancyer outings, or funeralls or spacial occasions and what not.

1. A coat / jacket to keep warm.
2. T shirts /lounge shirt ( and I mean alot, ones for class, working out, or just hanging around in the dorm room).
3. a formal suit ( pants, dress shirt, tie, blazer, etc).
4. Formal shoes and sneakers.
5. Sweats ( for the gym and lounging around).
6. Jeans ( light, med, dark, other colors)
7. undershirts?
8-10. whatever else you find appropriate.

College boy....
Peacoat, black or grey... express men or gap
Nice jeans that fit good, Levi's or Express men jeans
Sweater with a roung collar no v-neck
Long sleeve shirt- thermal- black or white
Short Sleeve chillen shirt with a cool design
Long sleeve dress shirt- express men
Brown dress shoes
Kaki pants
Dark socks, no white socks.
Okay and the long sleeve you could wear under the short sleeve shirt, that look is HOTT right now. THe peacoat is just classis and very handsome and masculine. The Kaki because they are a little dressy, the Levi's because they are not too baggy or too tight they are just perfect. GOOD LUCK

A hickey, a hickey, another hickey, alcohol for the girls...
jk...I like those polo shirts and cargo pants and shorts. Sandals and sneakers.
You don't need too much dressy stuff except for formal occasions like frat/sorority events. Also a nice haircut.

T Shirts (long and short), dark jeans, light jeans, khaki or cargo type. one nice dressy/club (black pants and button down nice dress shirt) , casual button down shirt and a belt and hat. Go to AE or something. They usually have the staples.

buy colared shirts,like polo shirts, or shirts with funny sayings, and and stone washed baggy pants are also hot, and sporty shoes are always cool.
