YES! 11th grade is actually your most important year in terms of grades. It is not only when you begin taking more classes, it's also when you start to take on more responsibilites (i.e: Varsity sports, jobs, more difficult classes, etc). Colleges look at those grades because they are your most recent when you apply, and they show how well you can balance extracurriculars/moredifficult classes/jobs, etc. As you said, you apply to college before the first semester of your senior year ends. Colleges look at your senior year grades, but only once your first semester grades are released. By then, though, they've pretty much decided on whether or not you'll be admitted.

Good luck!

Yor 10 and 11 grades are the number one criteria they look at. This will be a prediction for your 12 grade grades.

It depends. In california it's much easier to go to a community college for two years and then transfer to a State University. No SATs or ACTs and the transfer gets priority over incoming students.

they look at your total transcript from grade nine up until you apply. once accepted at an insitution they will ask you to send them a final copy of your transcript after you graduate. this is why teachers and counselors tell students not to slack off senior year. some institutions will revoke your admission if your grades drop off too much your final semester in high school.
