There is no problem from L.A. to Vegas at least in between. The cities is another problem.

In Vegas, be sure that you know where you go before hitting the road. Don't go with your intuition (looking at the Sun), I got lost from the Casinos to Noth Vegas many times.

According to your question, you live in L.A. or you land there. If you live there, then you will easily know how and when hitting the road to Vegas. If not, avoid the regular peak hours. Example: at 5 p.m., consider 4 to 6 p.m. as being the peak hours. Better in the middle of the night.

The best way to go is I-15. It can be crowded on Fridays and at Rush Hour especially where I-215 and I-15 connects. I would recommend arrive early or you will sit in traffic for awhile If you know your ways around, then it's easy. I used to live 5 years there and know the site streets to avoid it.

There's only one way in and one way out, I-15. No matter what day you're planning on going to Vegas, leave early. Anytime after 3:00 p.m. is going to be hell.
