here" ? The people that are fighting Americans in Iraq are any Tom, Dick, or Harry that resent Americans being in their own back yard, just as Americans might be resentful if it were in their country or state. Surely it is as plain as the nose on your face?

the simple fact is... everyone is assuming A LOT... no one knows that "a large number of insurgents aren't iraqi"... that's an assumption...

some aren't... but a large number?... there is no way to know...

I think that Osama is probably planning something for the U.S. right now and is using Iraq as a distraction for the U.S... and conservatives eat it up like candy... but I don't know that for sure either....

but I have a hard time thinking Osama really cares that much about Iraq, when he can get to the U.S., as he has done before...

the simple fact is... we don't know who is a "foreign terrorist fighter" in Iraq and who is just an "Iraqi insurgent"... so people that think we should be there assume that they are all terrorists, and people that think we shouldn't assume they are all Iraqis...

if you ask me there are probably some foreign fighters, but I don't' think it's a "base of terrorism" or a "front line in the war on terror"...

I think because we are tied up in Iraq, we may be fighting them in our backyard soon...

Don't you mean any Abdullah, Osama, or Hassan? A large number of these insurgents are not Iraqi. They are Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, etc from Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and elsewhere, there to wage their jihad against America. You must admit the fact that these terrorists are certainly directing manpower and time to Iraq, rather than here. Not all of it, but some. Some muslims that promote Jihad teach that the near Jihad, in the middle east, should be waged before the far Jihad, in AMerica and elsewhere. Bin Laden believed by attacking the U.S. via 9/11, etc. we would simply follow his orders and leave the region. That would have made it easier for Al-Qaeda and their cohorts to topple the Saudi Royal family, Saddam (at the time still in power) and eventually Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and Iran (sunni don't like shia) and successfully complete the near Jihad before waging the far Jihad. We didn't comply. And their tactics have changed, as any sophisticated army would do.

Actually, much of the violence is being pushed by Iran and Syria. They don't want America pushing Democracy on the middle east. You are also supposing that most of the people loved Saddam, and that is nonsense.
We have also not been attacked since 9/11 on the homeland, so something is working out. Perhaps we are fighting them over there? Who knows?
I do know that since the Democrats were elected the violence has increased in Iraq, since the insurgents feel they are winning, as they see the Democrats as cowards.

Yes, I believe it. You're right, we would resent it if these terrorists were in our own back yard...remember Pearl Harbor? How about 9/11? THAT is why Bush's statement is correct...better to fight them over there than let them come into OUR backyard ever again and try to destroy US. Surely THAT is as plain as the nose on your face, isn't it?

The people causing the trouble in Iraq are mostly imported from Iran and Syria. Last I checked, those people don't resemble anyone I know in a socio-political way. And FYI, the attacks started back in 1977, nothing done till the current administration. Is it possible they have information none of us have?

I understand their resentment. If I wanted the total annihilation of Israel and someone was stopping me, I'd be mad too.

No that's a crock. And if you believe it is true, then we are in a lot of trouble. The terrorists are located all over the world. They plan their evil plots all over the world. They attack places all over the world.
