The short answer is this - a person should be considered an adult when they take full responsibility for their actions and the results of their actions.

You can be a happy-go-lucky adult or a serious hardworking adult, but as an adult, you should be able to feed yourself, house yourself, and have some way of earning your keep - ie. not be a burden on society.

How you treat the others around you is also part of being an adult.

There is no correct answer.

Soceity and our Bodies are both factors but those conflict.

On top of that mental devolopement is slower then physical.

For example there are Emotions and Expressions that a person does not gain or recognize until they are in their 30's.

However there are three main stages people concern with: Childhood, Adolesense, & Adulthood.

The older Dictionaries and Britainicas have the last year of Adolesense as like 28 years old. Some people do not stop growing and devolopeing until then (though they may not be noticed by the human eye who looks at a person in day to day life),.. there are some things in the US Government that do not recognize a person as an Independent Adult for some things until they are like 26 years old (these are lesser known things,.. I think they deal with property or something).

I'm sure you're going to get a rainbow of responces.

A person is an adult when they have a full time job and don't have to rely on their parents for anything. They're an emerging adult if they are over 18 but still need mom and dad to help them out.

Some people never become an adult even in their 40's and 50's. What I think makes a person adult is mature way of handling different situations, taking responsibilites for their actions and not blaming everyone else. Being independant also, in material and psychological way.

A person is an adult when they are physically and mentally mature. Age is not necessarily a factor.

When that person answers a serious question on Yahoo with integrity and really wants to help. If you post cheesy responses to show off how witty you can be, you are still a child.
