Hi,
I'm afraid you're not right if what you want to do is express X as a function of Y:

If Y = 5 - X
then subtract 5 from both sides to get

y - 5 = -x
then multiply both sides by -1:
-1*(y-5) = x
or
-y + 5 = x
and for neatness, just switch sides:
x = -y + 5

first you switch the x and y
x= 5-y
then solve for y by subtracting 5 from both sides
x-5 = -y
then you have to make y positive so mutiply everything by -1
-x+5= y
theres your answer
