chastity, I am so glad both me and my hubby waited, we were well into our 20's, and we don't have to worry the other is comparing us to someone else. we don't have to worry about aids, or any other STD's, we don't have children from other partners, we trust each other, and it is just a secure feeling. and we love to experiment with each other, it keeps the sex good.

It's a cultural and religious thing mainly. And very enforced by the Christian Church, especially in the US.
For the Church the main purpose of getting married is procreation, and same for sex. Therefore you should wait.
There is also something about the girl being "pure" and untouched.
It just goes back really far, and got engraved in most western cultures. And as somebody said above, there was no birth control nor condoms back then to protect you from either pregnancy or STD.
I personally think it's outdated nowadays. I respect people who choose that, as long as they don't try to have other people do the same because of their belief.
I think nowadays we get married for love and not for financial reasons, therefore sex is more important, it's a gift we share and we consider it to be much more important in a relationship than in the past. So I personally think that it's better to have sex before you get married, because if it really doesn't work on that level, it might make it really hard for your relationship to last. Sex isn't everything, but it still plays an important role.

It's traditional in Western society. Originally, the tradition developed for a good reason - there was no birth control, so there was a good chance that the woman could get pregnant, and would end up a single mother.
In some African countries, it's exactly the opposite. Sex before marriage is accepted, and a single mum with a couple of kids is considered a good potential wife, because she has proved her fertility.
So you see, it all comes down to which tradition or which religion you were brought up in.
Personally, I think waiting for marriage is dangerous. I know two women who did that, and found out later that their husband was gay. I know of men who have waited, and found out that their wives were totally incompatible in the bedroom.
You wouldn't buy a car without taking it for a test drive.....

Usually once a girl/woman gives it up the interest the boy/man once had for her vanishes/diminishes. If you don't mind giving up such a sacred thing (your body) so that someone just takes it in vain, then it's not a big deal.

Sex is marriage. That is what people do not understand. Sex unites two bodies into one. Too bad the masses have been deceived as to what the definition of marriage is. You don't need the U.S. government's permission for two people to be considered married in God's eyes. Otherwise that would make all the other marriages in other countries invalid, correct? Think about it and meditate on what makes marriage.

Sex is one of the things people are suppose to look forward to after marriage... If you do it before marriage, what is there that will be any different after marriage. Nothing! It won't be special! The giving of yourself is suppose to be special... especially for the woman.... the giving of her virginity is a one time experience and the ultimate gift to the love of her life.

If you are a virgin and you marry a virgin, then nobody gets pregnant by accident and nobody gets STDs. You can rest assured that neither of you is bringing your past to bed with you. If you can wait until marriage, you will be respected. There will be no regrets. Good luck!!

maybe not if you want to end up with STDs........being a virgin, getting married, and being with the real person that you love is the best experience that you can ever have. sex before marriage is one reason why there are so many children being born to 14,15,16,17,and 13year olds. would you like your 13 year old to have a child, and then YOU have to take care of it????sex before marriage has many consecuences.

well im religous. so like its bettter to wait wen ur married because then its controlled sex. and its for love not for just gettin in bed. Ok say that i had a big torch..n i had a chair n i lit it on fire..ur 1st reaction would to try to put it out...or run..that represents wen u have sex without marriage. You try to hide it so things wont go wrong..so ur stepping on it..n now sex is no longer a gift from god. NOw say i had the same torch but put it in a fireplace. your 1st reaction would be to go up to it ..not rum..or try to put it up..that fire place symbloizes marriage..the fire is controlled..so ur sex is controlled...ur not trying to hide it any more...cuz its ok after ur marriage..no1 cares...
so i hope this little thing helps you out a little.
