Depends what age the child contracted HIV

As an adult, i think it would vary due to the extent of their illness, such as are they still in the HIV status or have they graduated to full blown AIDS. I personally know a child who is 13 now who is infected (and has been for the past 6 years) with the HIV virus, and the only real way you can tell she is sick is the amount of meds she takes, and the fact that she will tell you she is infected. her mother on the other hand had AIDS and suffers from lesions, loss of weight and other ailments associated with the disease.

Either way- the further along the cycle of the disease, the worse the health conditions are. The only true way to find out is to be tested and tested regularly. (if sexually active, had blood transfusions or uses hypodermic needles for drugs)

aids is detectable at any age by blood tests, symptoms usually show up by children's sores and wounds healing slow and colds and other illnesses that take forever to cure and the developement of reyes syndrome. if you feel your child is taking too well to get well take the child to a pediatrician and explain why you are concerned about aids.

It can show as early as birth. It really on depends on when they contract it. You do realize that HIV is usually detected first. Then it may evolve into AIDS or it may not. You should get yourself educated if you think you or your child maybe infected. Even if you don't think you are. Knowledge is power!

it is hard to say, some kids are born with aids. sad huh. it's only because the childs mother isn't aware she has it. an the only way to prevent this from happening is to bare the child by c-section. sorry. hope it helps to know.

If a child is at risk, the pediatrician should be informed and give you all the information you need and the child all the care they need. As far as when actual symptoms appear, it is different for everyone.
