In order for someone selling something to you from out of state and not collect sales tax they must not have a nexus (sales office, warehouse, etc.) in your state. Apple Computer probably has a nexus in almost every state so they will charge sales tax just as Dell Computer does. You'd have to find an out of state Apple retailer who has no nexus in your state who could ship it to you.
Having said this you should also understand that you are likely committing tax fraud as most states who have sales taxes really have sales and use tax. Use taxes mean that if you buy a computer this way that you must, by law, declare it and pay a use tax (equal to the sales tax). From a practical standpoint collecting use taxes is very difficult when an individual buys something from out of state. Still, you asked the question and I have given you the correct answer.

If you live in a state that does not have a sales tax, have it shipped there and you should not have to pay a sales tax.
Other than that, you must either pay sales tax to CA, from where I would guess apple is located, or the state you are having the item shipped too.
If you have it sold to and shipped to a state where there is no sales tax, you can then have them ship the item to you and there would be no sales tax.
Remember you would then be paying twiice the shipping charges, From apple to where ever and then from where ever to you.
Might be cheaper to pay the dumb tax.
Taxes are the way the rich keep the poor and middle class where we are.

Technically, that would be tax fraud.
Even if Apple did not charge you "sales" tax, legally, you would owe "use" to the state yourself.
One of the items that former head of Tyco is in prison for is sales tax fraud. He evaded New York Sales Tax on items by having them shipped somewhere else first.

your question doesnt ask for a legal remedy. cash. cash in a state with no sales tax is the only way. the states are all part of a huge network. if you use a credit card they will track it to you and you run the risk of your state sending you a notice for use tax due. this is because your supposed to file any unpaid use tax with your state tax return.

Technically you're meant to pay a "use tax" for any merchandise you purchase exterior the state yet use interior of your homestead state. somebody in this website needless to say would not agree because of the fact each suitable answer informing you of the little customary "use tax" rules has a thumb's down score, yet whoever is giving those thumbs down rankings is incorrect. Use tax is how states avert human beings from this form of sales tax "evasion." they have not any thank you to comprehend which you got the laptop so your odds of being caught are narrow to none, yet technically in case you're caught, you will possibly be penalized and charged the use tax.

wouldn't it be easier to just pay the tax instead of doing all that shipping? Shipping isn't free either
