but it doesn't die along with the person... the heart may stop beating, but it resonates through all the lives it touched through all it's lifetime.
the world may meet it's end someday-
somewhere in our galaxy's planetary graveyard lies an epitaph with a eulogy that writes:
R.I.P.
Here lies a world that Loved till the very end.
Humankind (7234BC - 2123AD)
Earth(2 billion years)

Consider the question, "What is the point of love, if it's with a foreigner?" That question makes sense only if we assume that love with natives matters but that love with foreigners doesn't matter. And that's a crazy assumption.
Likewise, your question makes sense only if we assume that love that lasts forever matters but love that doesn't last forever doesn't matter. But that's also a crazy assumption. Why assume that love that comes to an end is pointless?
I'd like to see an argument supporting this assumption. Otherwise, you have no more reason to doubt the worth of love that comes to an end than you have to doubt the worth of any love at all.

The effects of love doesn't die. A person that is loved will learn how to love others. Other people will learn from his example. The point of love is to teach a new generation how to care for the next.

To make life better.
What's the point in anything really though since intellect, will, joy, etc. all die with the people who possess it.
I say they are all part of what makes life more than mere existence.

what is the point of a nice day, if the clouds or the cold will come back, or if the sun eventually sets? same thing. enjoy it while it's here, and make the most of it.

We are all headed towards death. So the whole point of life is to find things to keep yourself entertained until you die. So love is a pleasant thing that helps the years pass by until you die.

Your logical error here is to assume that only things of "permanence"--however defined--are of value. I think it is a bias going back to Plato, and I for one am far more interested in the joyfully ephemeral than obsessing about "permanent" values.

If human souls are mortal then it's all the more reason to love. To make the most of our time.

I believe if humans loved every single person around them as much as they love themselves, love can't die. Love doesn't die when we righteously love each other considering that person to be one. When you consider a person to be one with you, you'll love them as much as you love yourself. Humans love themselves more than anything or anyone else; when you consider a person to be yourself, you'll never want to see harm come to this person, you'll never want to hurt this person, you'll never want anything to happen to this person that you wouldn't want done to yourself. Would love die when you love someone as much as you love yourself? NO.
So, if you find a person who can do that, then love will never change or die. If a person doesn't possess this type of love for you, then it's not real.
