Worrying comes along with motherhood, its kind of a side effect that comes along with the gift of motherhood and never leaves us, so get ready to experience it all through your life.
Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck with the baby.
Now as far your question is concerned Stillbirth is a relatively uncommon, and often completely random occurrence. A large percentage of stillbirths are of unknown causes. Some of the causes of still births are
* Birth defects and chromosomal aberrations are usually a result of some genetic disorder, these can be found at an early stage of the pregnancy. Birth defects and chromosomal aberrations cause 25% of still births.
* Bacterial infection, some infection caused during the time of the pregnancy.
* growth retardation
* maternal diabetes or high blood pressure * maternal consumption of nicotine, alcohol, recreational drugs (excluding cannabis[1]), or pharmaceutical drugs contraindicated in pregnancy
* postdate pregnancy, a postmature pregnancy usually 3 weeks past the due date.
* placental abruption, usually caused due to drug use, too many births, trauma, poor diet, hypertension among other things.
* physical trauma
* radiation poisoning caused due to excessive exposure to ionizing radiation, a large dosage of radiation in a short period of time.
* umbilical cord accidents
I suggest you read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stillbirth for more details.
Hope this helps, Don't worry too much about it, have a good diet and take care of yourself extremely well in these crucial three months and remember incomplete knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge, so read and know all about it or just leave it to god and hope for the best.
Good luck.

Hun, it is totally normal to have these fears, welcome to motherhood. THey never go away. After the baby comes there will be something else for you to worry about, there always is. As far as Still birth goes, that is a case by case situation. Since you have had a perfectly healthy (i'm jealouse!) pregnancy,with no complications, then still birth is not a factor either. In actuality, still births are very rare now, with the advances in medicine. THis is why you go to your dr once a month, or closer to the end, once a week, to make sure everything is good with the baby. THis is why the dr listens to the baby fetal tones (heartbeat,and such) at each appt. I am in the process of writting a pregnancy book, I will be posting parts of it on my blog if you wanna check it out at:(http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus... In my book I discuss many things that doctors neglect to cover with expectant mothers. Hope some of that info is helpful!

Oh, hun- I have a 4 month old baby boy, and I worried beyond worrying the whole time I was pregnant with him. There are definitely factors that contribute to stillbirth- don't smoke, eat healthy, don't over do anything,. But mostly, the thing that helped me, is to realize that it's truly not in your hands and worrying and stressing is not going to help matters at all. I am sure that everything is gonna be great, especioally since you said your baby kicks and moves all the time. If you are healthy and take care of yourself, the chances of something happening are slim to none. Just be aware of movement and if you go a 24 hour period without anything significant, call your doctor. They will bring you in, strap an ultrasound to your tummy, and you will relax for 45 minutes. Then, the dr will come in, see that there are big bumps and lines on the chart form your baby's even tiniest movements, and he will reassure you that everything's great! I speak from experience- I went in 3 times in one month- I was pretty paranoid. You're fine, the baby's fine, and congrats! :)

A still birth can happen to anybody, family history has nothing to do with this at all. The main risk leading to still birth are
Infections
Placental problems.
Birth defects.
Growth restriction.
Bacterial infections
lack of oxygen during a difficult delivery caused most stillbirths. While asphyxia during delivery still causes some fetal deaths, it is not a common cause of these losses. Other infrequent causes of stillbirth include: umbilical cord accidents, trauma, maternal diabetes and high blood pressure, and postdate pregnancy (a pregnancy that lasts longer than 42 weeks).

No, you're not worrying over nothing. There is a chance that you could have a still birth. I think the chances are 10%. But worrying does nothing to help you out. Aren't you also worried about going through labor too? You're hormones are going to run wild, so just deal and pray that it goes by quickly and that everything goes well.

I think it has something to do with a complicated pregnancy sometimes just caused my the cord being wrapped around the baby's neck there could be so many things that cause a still birth. but it sounds like you are doing pretty good with your pregnancy so just try not to think about it and enjoy your pregnancy

every mom worries about this most of the time but you gotta get it out of your head!worrying isnt going to do anything good for you or your baby!i think there are many different reasons for still births.my sister had one at 8 mon due to the babys cord being wrapped around his neck.she hadnt felt him move for a couple of days but didnt want to be a worry wart so she waited for the doc appt to tell him.it was to late at that point.my advice would be no matter how dumb you feel if somethings not right call your doc or go to the er!better safe than sorry!

every mother does and it is nomal to worry. im 9wks and worried every day that i will lose my baby.
the chances are small though and your doctor will of course be able to help with your worries.
the fact ur baby is very lively is great and a sign of him being healthy
relax and enjoy him moving around its the probably the best sign there is that he is ok!

It most likely won't happen to you, and cannot be predicted right now. You should not obsess about it all!
However, a part of me wants to tell you that you're smart to be aware that sometimes bad things do happen. however, you should not expect it or worry about it.
