One definition of stress characterizes it as a state of mental or emotional strain or suspense. Anticipation is wishing with confidence of fulfillment, or pleasurable expectation. So if I were to put together a Ven diagram of the two, anticipation and stress would overlap in the area labelled "emotional suspense."
