Ok, so I'm 12 years old, and i'm an only child. When i was about 4 years old, my mom asked me for the first time whether I wanted a sibling. I said no, which was really how I felt. Then, when I was about 8, she asked me again. I said no again, but I wasn't really sure wether or not I wanted a sibling. Now, my dad has had a vasectomy, so I cant have any siblings now, but I really do want a sibling. Sometimes, I just get so lonely, and I think of how much better my life would be if my parents like adopted a girl from china, who would be in the same exact grade as me. Is it normal for only children to feel this way? I don't want to tell my mom, because I feel like it's my fault that she didn't have any more kids. I felt like I kept her from doing it. Help me!

Vasectomys can be reversed, talk to your mom about it. Maybe she has baby on the brain too, you never know. Remeber a baby sister or brother is a lot of work, and include tons of diaper changes so be prepared. It's great that this is a family decision as it affects everyone in the house, not just the parents. Good luck.

It is very normal to feel this way. But trust me on this, if they had really wanted another child, trust me they would have had it. Asking you was just her way of showing that she cared about your opinion, but if she had really wanted another child she would have. While vasectomy's can be reversed the whole point of you dad getting one was because they do not wish for anymore children. Its not your fault they didn't have any more. They most likely feel that you are the most important thing in their life and you fulfill their expectations on your own. You could always look up and talk to your parents about big brothers/ big sisters of america. Its young adults who act as an older sibling for lonely children. They take them out places and have lots of fun to help make you feel better about life.

Maybe they couldn't have kids anymore after you anyways, maybe they were just planing on adopting when you'd REALLY want another Sibling. Or maybe they made a deal between them that only if you said yes they would make more (lol). Maybe one of your parents didn't want more, and the other one did. I think you should talk to your Parents.
But from the other side, you'll be looking for boys soon, get married and then u can choose yourself how many kids you want. Time does go faster then expected!

more than likely the fact that you told your mom that you didn't want any siblings has nothing to do with your parents decision not to have any more children. i have never heard of grown adults letting a child decide if they have more kids or not. there could be some other issue. maybe your parents just decided not to have anymore. talk to her about it.

Well, I was about 13 when my parents had my now 15 year old sister Elyse. Maybe sit down with your parents, maybe exchange ideas about adoption, sperm donation or a surgorate mother. Hope all ends well! (UPDATE ME!)

beleve me, you made the right choice when you said no. i have 3, they are all nothing but pains. you saved your self and your posable sibling from a lot of trouble. in my expirence parents have favroites and they have a diffrent favroite for diffrent things. i am the blame favroite, EVERY THING and do realy meen EVERY THING gets blamed on me. my older brother is the all time favorite because he came frist, he is a lazy bum but he came first so whop-de do my little brother is the crybaby, and mom beleves any thing he says. if he crys about any thing i get in trouble. and my sister gets any thing she wants and more because she is the only girl. i have had a truly rotten childhood because of my siblings, and my parents who love every one but me.
