It is easier to focus on the negative than see the good in people. I grew up on on Hip-Hop (not Rap) from the early days (late 70's to early 90's). It wasn't always about putting women down, profanity, and drug selling. Look at Native Tongue, KRS-One, Arrested Development, Poor Righteous Teachers, etc. Rap music has degenerated along with civilization. Racism has been around since pre-Biblical times and is not going away. If racism disappeared, what would the Revs. Jackson and Sharpton do? Dark-skinned ladies do get a raw deal in media. This world is screwed because of apathy.

I am in total agreement with you, I think this whole race thing is so overrated, some people put way to much emphasis on race. It's just ridiculous that race plays a major part in what goes on in the world today. As for hip hop and rap, rap is apart of the african american culture so I don't believe it should have to go, but I do think that alot of the lyrics needs to be toned down alot.

I'm sick of people who take a Utopian view of the world. Yes it would be great if racism could end. But be realistic. It won't. It exists in every culture and country around the world.
Instead of worrying about peoples inequities, and misstatements. Worry about yourselves. Show solid performance in everyday life, and the color of your skin will wash away in the eyes of all those around.
And if people still wish to be racist, or bigoted. Tell them to go back to Europe, Asia, or Africa.

I don't know how many channels you get there in Australia but plenty of dark skinned women and men get equal chance in the US media. Oprah Winfrey is the richest black women in the world. Ed Bradley was on 60 Minutes forever. Every black person in sports, music and movies gets plenty of media attention. We even try to be fair to murderers like OJ Simpson and pedophiles like Michael Jackson. What more do you want?

Yes, I think racists are a mixture of insecure and arrogant. What makes one race think they're better than another? It's who you are inside that counts. Well, they're loss. Unfortunately, we're never gonna change their view. Somepeople bring their racists attitudes to the grave with them. I am white and I agree, racism is against all colors and races, not just blacks and hispanics. Thanks for making that point.

I agree to everything you said except the hip hop thing. i think hard rock needs to go as well but if you don't like hip hop then do not listen to it. i don't like it but my husband does. i don't listen to it, he does. i don't like any music that is degrading to anyone. and i have 2 neices that are bi-racial, their mom is white but just to let every racist know. i had to get my 2 neices out of foster care because their mom is a white trash, crack whore, who does not take care of her kids. and i also have an all white friend who takes good care of her kids so see there is NEVER all of anything.
