I read post after post that are very hurtful towards same sex relationships. One girl was terrified and asked for advise because someone in school spread a rumor that she was a lesbian ( as though it's a terrible disease) another person asked if it was gross to see two boys holding hands in public and most answers were : "eh...gross"
This makes me very sad. Weather we accept or like it, gay people have always existed and they will always exist. Why can't we teach our children that being gay is not bad???
I am a straight woman who is happily married and I have many gay friends who would like nothing more than being able to marry their partner..... who the heck are WE to tell them they can't have the same commitment??? I am sickened by all these homophobic politicians who make these kind of laws.

Girl, you just said it completely right.
Why are gay people from around the world denied the same rights?
I am lucky to live in Holland where gay/lesbian people can get legally married..
Weren't we the talk of the world for sometime?
Lucky for many, that more countries follow :Canada f.i.
But there is an issue that strikes me more:why are gay people allowed to vote?
We are the ones with the dirty lives, aren't we?
So:gays and lesbians:think again for who you will vote.
We voted for the right people in our country and are equal now to anybody else.
Can't you all do the same?
Stand up for what should be yours to begin with.
Not just living together, but have a real commitment?
Go for it and let the hateful people not scare you at all.
Greetings from a very liberal Holland:Rob.
Boys and girls,am I glad to live here.TX.

Ignorance causes fear. Yes, fear. The same thing that makes people superstitious causes them to fear the unknown, the "wrong" as they believe. How many times have you seen "well, no animals do it," yet everyone knows they do. Its just a fact that's been proven, empirically. But since it doesn't fit their "small world view" its not acceptable, look at those who still believe the world is flat or that man never has been to the Moon, with ignorance like this, we'll always have those conditioned, unable to expand their minds or think for themselves, so we may as well just learn to ignore them : ) and not vote for them.

I agree. These people are close minded and don't realize that we are not so diffrent. We have normal daily lives and we love like anyone else. It's nice to see a straight woman who doesn't classify others and who does not hate. Thank you. The world needs more people like you.

It's human nature to initially hate and fear "the other." It's like a knee-jerk reaction. But the longer the other exists, the less mean-spirited people become. It just takes time.

It has a lot to to with what most people are taught from the church if you listen to people who go they are the one who have the problem not people who have choose not to go and be brain washed I know gay people and have no problems with it so long as the person you are with treats you with respect then it does not matter who or what gender they are love is not color or gender bound

Most of those sort of shallow sweeping opinions you refer to are based on ignorance and bigotry. Unfortunately people become even 'braver' when it is a faceless virtual environment. They say things and form opinions that if they had to face the person to whom they direct their ignorance to they wouldn't be so big and forceful with their attitude

Bullies need to hurt others in order to empower themselves. Not just with gays but with ethnic groups too.

Mainly because they are ignorant and are afraid. To combat their fear they lash out at others.
