I have an unlocked Motorola L6 phone from Cingular and I have a T-Mobile SIM card. I'm able to send and receive calls using the T-Mobile SIM so the phone must be unlocked but if I try to search for a new network only Cingular shows up? Any ideas?

technically nothings wrong...some unlocked cellphones will show the actual network...just because it's unlocked it doesn't actually make it a t-mobile phone...so it might never get the t-mobile network but it will work...(it doesn't mean you'll get charged roaming )
yeah something else, you'll probably have to program the internet and the multimedia messages... i can tell you how to do it...here's the webpage:http://tmobileusotw.wdsglobal.com/
check if that works too though, for i've had to do it for customers that unlocked their phones...alright. hope i answered your question

You need to go into the settings for the phone and have it search for the network. You also may have to do a master reset. When the phone was first activated with the cingular sim card it found and locked on the cingular network. In order to change that, go to settings and look for network selection,. have it search and then chose the tmobile network. If this does not work. then look in the book for the master rest information.
Good Luck

I bought an unlocked SLVR L2 (only Cingular phone) from eBay and used my T-Mobile sim and had the T-Mobile logo displayed but was unable to send pictures to another T-Mobile user. So, I'm guessing certain features will/will not work. Anyone know how to fix that?

you could purchase a T-cellular telephone (think ofyou've got to pay finished retail cost in case you get it straight away from them-the in elementary words rebates they provides you with is in case you signal a freelance with them) and apply it to Cingular. you in elementary words favor it to be unlocked. you could purchase liberate codes from ebay etc or you'll discover them on-line for loose even though it takes a lot of searching. do not ignore that Cingular gained't assure files/textual content amenities on phones that are literally not cingular-branded.. so no matter if that is unlocked they are going to in elementary words assure voice service.
