what would be any and all reasons for this car to start, run a few seconds and stall out....this is for a friend of mines son....and needs to be fixed....any help would be great

There are so many possibilities here ---
1) Failing Fuel pump
1a) Restricted fuel filter
1b) Defective fuel pressure regulator
2) Security System engaged
2a) Wrong Key (without VATS Chip)
2b) Failing security module interface
3) Sensor input out of range
e.g. MAF or MAP, Coolant Temp, Cam or crank, ignition control module.

You have only offered cursory information here.
What year, engine. Does it do it all the time, or only when cold? Is the "Check Engine' light illuminated?
When it runs, does it run smoothly or is it rough?
please provide us with as much infor as you can. It eliminates the "Carnak" method of diagnostics!

sounds like a clogged fuel filter.when was the last time it was serviced?also if it has a carb could need cleaning or serviced.it is starving for fuil. are the spark plugs clean or are they burnt and getting no proper spark

try checking the air filter maybe testing your fuel pressure

clogged fuel line...inline gas filter plugged...could be any number of reasons.....take it to a mechanic.......
