You can list him on the birth certificate if you want to, even those he wants nothing to do with the child... think about someday when the child can read his own birth certificate and how would he or she feel to not have a father listed? If he won't help you financially at the very least I think I would have him sign his paternal rights away. :o(

If he doesn't want anything to do with the baby, I would probably leave him off the birth certificate and deal with proving paternity later. I would not want my husband to be on the birth certificate if he would have said he doesn't want anything to do with the baby, because you are just asking for legal problems if he ever decides he wants to be part of the baby's life but not yours. No offense, but you need to get your life together for your baby's sake before it's born.

You can have him as the father on the birth certificate, but Isuggest you immediately get a family law order giving you SOLE LEGAL CUSTODY and SOLE PHYSICAL CUSTODY as soon as possible after the baby is born. If not, he can come get the baby ANY TIME HE WANTS, and there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO, unless he's drunk, doesn't have a car seat, or is on drugs.

If he is the father then yes put him on the birth cert. Your child will want to know one day. Not only that it may incoruage him to take his part in your baby's life. I don't think he will have to sign anything.

If you dont put him on the birth cert later on down the line you may have problems. You will not get child support at all and if something were to happen to him you would not get social security or medical for him either. Ive been there

you can not have his name added to the certificate unless he signs a affidavit of paternity. After the kid is born you will have to go after him for child support to have it added later, Keep as much information on him as possible i.e. drivers license number, current address, social security number, place of work, tag number on his car, etc...it will make it eaiser for you case worker to find him.
I suggest you just take him for child support, through the court system you want have to deal with him at all.

The government will not allow you to have him on the Birth Certificate unless he is present to sign.

You might be able to put 'unknown', I'm not positive. You would have to check into that. I'm pretty sure you have to put something. Since you aren't married, he would probably have to sign an affidavit of parentage. Or you could request him to get a dna test to prove it.
