How about not buying a house with a woman who hasnt shown that she pays half the rent in a rental, and how about not buying a brand new car with a woman who is financially irresponsible. You have only yourself to blame for allowing someone to take advantage of you.

Since this question was aimed at women, I'm not in a position to answer it. All I can say is I have no clue what my wife does with the money I make. She gets my paycheck, and all the bills are paid, food is in the fridge, and there's money in the bank when we need it.
Since she doesn't work outside of the home, and choice she made, so as far as I'm concerned, she can do what she wants with it.
I had the same viewpoint with my first wife, and after 20 years of marriage, she decided it was time for her to have some fun, and she cleaned me out. In the divorce, I took my clothes, gave her everything else, including a check to pay one year's mortgage, and bowed out gracefully.
So am I setting myself up for the same thing with my second wife? Maybe, but as a sexist, male chauvinist pig (as I am proud to say I am called by the feminists), I take it in stride and just consider it part of my responsibility being a man.
B.T.W. I did learn something from my first wife. This time I put my current home, which is paid for, and our Jeep, also paid for, in my wife's name only so there won't be any legal complications if we do ever get a divorce.
My wife’s opinion of all this? She's more than happy to be feminine instead of a feminist. Oh, by the way, she'll be the first to admit I'm a better cook than she is, but she accepts the duty of preparing our meals unless I feel like cooking.
I wonder how feminists out there will find fault with this arrangement. After all, since I openly admit I am a sexist male chauvinist, they certainly can’t agree with my views.

You two have obviously entered a marriage without making your expectations clear about how you will handle your finances and how much each should contribute to running the household. But,you obviously need to talk about this now because money is the number one reason for divorce and nobody wants that. I personally think that if both are working, each should pay an equal percentage of his/her salary toward the common expenses and savings and each should have an equal percentage of their salary to piss away or do whatever they want to with it. Note that I said equal percentage, not equal dollars. I think that's what roommates do, not married couples. But, no matter what you mutally agree to, you really have to figure out something that will work for both of you. Until then your marriage iwill continue to suffer.

Actually, my husband is the one that pisses his earnings away, when he goes to the bookies. I on the other hand have two jobs, take care of all the finances and do all the housework. Oops, did I just pee on your parade? Take care : )

It is okay for a woman to do what she wants with her money, yet put it in savings or do good with it. The only way a woman should not help her husband is that he has lots of money and is not in need of hers.

For your information I pay my own way, always have. If we ever divorce, I'm going to marry an old, rich, sick man and take his money when he dies. Since you sound so bitter, I just might buy you something with the dead man's money to make you a little sweeter. What would you like?

Well, of course I do. I work.

However, if I were a stay at home wife and mother, I would contribute in other ways - dinner on the table, care for the children, do all the housework and errands, and sex my hubby the hell up.

I don't work and my husband doesn't work. My husband doesn't want me to work which I am fine with and his country pays him a salary every month and pays for his education here in USA.
