Cell phone numbers are not going to be released to telemarketing companies. They are still barred from calling cell phones. If you want to be extra safe, you can put your cell phone number on the national do not call list. It will not harm anything.

That is just an urban legend, it has been circulating by email for years clogging up the internet. Ignore it. The phone number given really IS the national do-not-call registry number (unusual for such emails), but cell phones are automatically on the do-not-call list.
